Mussoorie has a numerous tourist spots and places to see, so the tourist never gets bored even after trying. One day is not enough to explore the beauty of Mussoorie so plan to stay to minimum three days so that after returning you can proudly say to your friends and colleagues that you have explored Mussoorie. Lake Mist
Lake Mist is situated on the Mussoorie – Kempty road 5 km before Kempty falls. Lake Mist is a newly developed scenic picnic spot with good accommodation and restaurant facilities; you can also do boating on this lake.
Municipal Garden
It is located at a distance of 4 km by rickshaw cycles, pony or by a car and 2 km via Waverly Convent School road on foot. Municipal Garden is a picnic spot having a beautiful garden and an artificial mini lake with paddled boating facility. Municipal Garden is an ideal spot for families and couples.
Mussoorie Lake
Mussoorie Lake is situated at 6km on Mussoorie-Dehradun road. It is a newly developed picnic spot build by City Board & Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority. The lake offers pedaled boating facilities along with offers fascinating view of Doon Valley and nearby villages.
Children lodge
It is the highest peak of Mussoorie near Lal Tibba, it is situated at 5 km from the Tourist Office and one can reach their either by trekking or on horseback. The view of snow-clad mountains to the north-east is invigorating.
Bhatta Falls
It is situated 7 km from Mussoorie on Mussoorie-Dehradun Road near Bhatta Village. Bhatta Village is accessible by car or bus from where the easy trek of 3 km will lead you to refreshing Bhatta Falls. It has different ponds and small lakes for bathing and water amusements and is an ideal place for picnic.
Jharipani Fall
It is situated at 8.5 km from Mussoorie on Mussoorie-Jharipani road. Jharipani is well accessible by motorable roads from where the trek of 1.5 km commences to Jharipani fall. The view of Jharipani Fall is tempting.
Mosey fall
Mosey fall is surrounded by a dense forest and is 7 km from Mussoorie. You can reach upto there via Barlowganj or Balahisar.
Sir George Everest House
The Park Estate of Sir George Everest, First Surveyor General of India, Who had his office and residence here, is approachable by road. The world’s highest peak Mt. Everest is named after Sir George Everest. It is situated 6 km from Gandhi Chowk and vehicle can go right up to the place. The place provides an enchanting view of Doon Valley on one side and view of Yamuna Valley and snowbound Himalayan ranges on the other. It is an ideal spot for picnic and trekking.
Nag Devta Temple
An ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva situated on Cart Mackenjee road. It is about 6 km from Mussoorie on way to Dehradun. Vehicles can go right up to the temple. This place provies an enchanting view of Mussoorie and Doon valley.
Jwalaji Temple
This place is also known as Benog Hill. It is set at an altitude of 2104mts above sea level and is 9 km west of Mussoorie. It is situated on the top of the Benog Hill and looks like the crown of the hill. Surrounded by thick forest having an old idol of Goddess Durga offers a marvelous view of Yamuna Valley.
Cloud's End
It is situated at the extreme west of Mussoorie hill and is 8km from Library. The bungalow here built in 1838 by a British major was one of the first four buildings of Mussoorie has now been converted into a hotel called Clouds End. The place provides peaceful and calm environment because of its rich and varied flora and fauna. Van chetna Kendra
At a distance of about 2 km on Tehri bypass road, this place is developed as picnic spot and has a park surrounded with pine forest and flowering shrubs, and is approachable by foot or taxi/car. The main attraction of this place is the wildlife of the park like Ghurar, Kakar, Himalayan peacock, Monal etc.
Benog Mountain Quail Sanctuary
It is an old sanctuary situated 11 km to the south of library point established in 1993 and it covers an area of 339 hectares. It is famous for the extinct bird species Mountain Quail (Pahari Bater), which was last spotted in 1876.
Camel’s Back Road
This road begins from the Rink at Kulri Bazar and terminates at Library Bazar stretching 4km. The place offers a picturesque view of the sunset and a life like resemblance of a sitting camel. One can also enjoy long walks and horse riding here. British graveyard having ancient graves on the way provides new dimension to the walk. Lal Tibba
Lal Tibba is located in Landour area which is the oldest inhabited place in Mussoorie. Lal Tibba exemplifies highest point in mussoorie. There’s a 20m tall tower situated at the edge of the cliff. Gun Hill
Gun Hill is situated 400mts above The Mall and it is the second highest peak of Mussoorie. Gun Hill is set at an elevation of 2122mts and it offers a beautiful panoramic view of the mighty Himalayan ranges and Doon valley. Before independence a Gun mounted on this top used to be fired at mid-day for people to adjust their watches. Presently Gun Hill houses the water reservoir of Mussoorie. The Mall Road
The Mall Road is the heart of the town and is one of the most crowded places of Mussoorie. The structure of the road takes you back to the colonial period. There are numerous restaurants and hotels on this road. The Methodist church is situated on the Mall and is around 100 years old.
Happy Valley
The vast stretch of Happy Valley road houses the IAS Academy, Tibetan temples and the Municipal Gardens. The Happy Valley area lies on the western side of Library Point and leads to the far end of Mussoorie, that is, the Cloud’s End.
The Happy Valley area indeed promises a happy feeling with so many places of interest to explore, be it estates, gardens or temples. Almost every tourist spot in Mussoorie passes through the Happy Valley area. A walk past the Kala School from Happy Valley, which forks past the police station, can take you to the Hathipaon Park Estate.
